BACKSTORY

The youngest born child of the Earl of Santias - lord of a small earldom South of the River Chionthar, between Baldur's Gate and Fort Morninglord - and an Arcana Cleric of Mystra. Blessed with a connection to the Weave from birth, Tara is well on her way to become one of the most powerful spellcasters of her era.

Tara can be treated either as "Tav" or as a companion. Characters associated with the arcane arts may know the stories of her ancestor, the Cursed Knight, Santias, and her family's involvement with the supernatural. Those belonging to the Church of Mystra have most likely heard of her, primarily due to the fact that she is considerably young (around twenty one at the start of the game).Baldurans, nobles, and merchants might be familiar with the business side of her family, known purveyors of mystic artifacts, rare treasures, and other curiosities. Anyone with criminal ties could be aware of her father's dealings in the black market, including rumors of (in)human trafficking.Tara's companion quest heavily revolves around her father and his possible involvement with the Cult of the Absolute. Throughout the first act, Tara takes on her false alias to avoid being associated with her family, but is eventually found out. Possibilities include: discovering her journal, passing a history check to recognize the crest stitched into her dress, or Elminster outing her during the party's encounter with him.Once found out, Tara becomes more open about her past, life among the aristocracy, her childhood, and being a Chosen of Mystra. She can frequently use her noble status and overall charm to talk the party's way in and out of situations. Having just been freed of her gilded cage, she can be quite naive, a fact most prevelant when made "leader" of the party.She is most trusting of Good-Aligned characters and followers of Mystra or her allies. That said, she is open-minded, only judging others based on their actions. In terms of the party, she is most drawn to Gale, Halsin, Shadowheart, and Wyll.
